As JCPSP enters its 33rd year of publication, it is my proud privilege to congratulate and express my deepest gratitude to all authors, reviewers, editors, and publication team for their immense contribution leading to the fact that today JCPSP stands tall among leading Biomedical Journals of the country, region, and world at large. This is vividly reflected in the large number of high-quality manuscripts submitted to JCPSP by national and international contributors. In 2022, JCPSP received 1,715 manuscripts i.e., about 5 manuscripts per day, out of which 518 (30%) submissions were from Pakistan while 1,197 (70%) submissions were from outside Pakistan.

Robust peer review and timely publication have been the hallmark of JCPSP, and CPSP always values its reviewers for their intellectual contribution in maintaining the high quality of papers. In recognition of their dedicated efforts, the amount of honorarium has been doubled. In 2022, we have seen the impact factor of our journal jump from 0.711 to 1.022 by Clarivate Analytics (Formerly Thomson Reuters-ISI). Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan rated it in the second highest ‘X’ category. It is a great privilege to acknowledge the efforts of our internal and external reviewers without whom such success would not have been possible.

Despite being an ‘Open Access’ journal for all these years, no publication charges whatsoever were levied, and all expenses were entirely borne by the ‘College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan’ (CPSP). However, from 2023, a very small charge is being imposed for sustainability and to counter unprecedented inflation which has engulfed the whole post COVID world.

At the eve of new-year, I would also like to announce the launch of a companion journal with the name ‘JCPSP Case Reports’ dedicated solely to publishing case reports. We cordially invite CPSP trainees, residents, and health professionals from Pakistan as well as from all over the world to contribute their ‘Case reports’ to this new CPSP journal. I hope this journal will serve its readers with the same ambition and zeal by publishing the finest quality reports in the field of Medicine.  I wish this new journal every success in its endeavours.

Finally, a very happy, productive, and prosperous new year to all who have been associated with or are serving JCPSP and CPSP in any capacity.
