Journal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (JCPSP) is the official journal of The College of Physician and Surgeons Pakistan which is the premier postgraduate medical institution of Pakistan established in 1962 under an act of Parliament. Initially the College followed the parameters of Royal Colleges of UK and Ireland. CPSP awards postgraduate qualifications of Fellowships and Memberships at present in 74 different specialties of medical sciences, upon successful completion of prescribed training and passing of relevant examinations.
The journal is an open access peer-reviewed biomedical journal, aims to provide medical health professionals with current information relevant to the diagnosis and treatment. Each issue contains a series of timely in-depth original research papers, systematic review articles, commentaries, short communication, new technology, editorials and letters to the editor by scholars of biomedical sciences from Pakistan and abroad covering a range of current topics in medical research. It covers the core biomedical health science subjects, basic medical sciences and emerging community problems, prepared in accordance with the “Uniform requirements for submission to bio-medical journals” laid down by International Committee of Medical Journals Editors (ICMJE). All publications of JCPSP are peer reviewed by subject specialists from Pakistan and locally and abroad.
The journal is abstracted/indexed by Index Medicus/MEDLINE/[PubMed](NLM-USA), Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), Embase/Excerpta Medica of Netherlands, ExtraMed of London, EBSCO Publishing (USA), Index Copernicus (Poland), Gale/Cengage Learning (USA), CAB International, UK, Index Medicus for Eastern Mediterranean Region (IMEMR), PakMediNet and MEDLIP (Pakistan). It is also registered with International Serial Data System and Coden of American Chemical Society.
Being a high profile accredited biomedical journal of the country, JCPSP is recognized by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM &DC), Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, rating it in the "X" category list of journals from Pakistan.
JCPSP is also has an Impact Factor Assigned by Clarivate Analytics former Thomson Reuters -ISI (Institute for Scientific Information), Philadelphia, USA ever since 2009 with a 5-year Impact Factor.
JCPSP has a largest readership which includes CPSP Fellows, Members, other healthcare professionals and researchers worldwide. It is also available at all the medical libraries of Pakistan and abroad by arrangement with EBSCO publishing, USA and GALE/Cengage Learning, USA.
