Journal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan

JCPSP’s publisher, the College of Physician and Surgeons Pakistan is the premier postgraduate medical institution of Pakistan, which was established in 1961 under an act of Parliament and runs on the same pattern as Royal Colleges of England and Ireland. CPSP awards postgraduate qualifications of Fellowship, Membership and Diploma upon successful completion of prescribed training and passing of relevant examinations in the 73 offered specialties of medicine.

The Journal of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (JCPSP) is the prestigious, peer reviewed monthly biomedical journal of the country published regularly since 1991.

Established with the primary aim and objective of promotion and dissemination of medical research, JCPSP publishes research papers, contributed locally and from abroad in the form of original articles, case reports, review articles, articles on medical education, commentaries, short communication, new technology, editorials and letters to the editor covering core biomedical health science subjects, basic medical sciences and emerging community problems, prepared in accordance with the “Uniform requirements for submission to bio-medical journals” as approved by the International Committee of Medical Journals Editors (ICMJE), after peer review locally as well as internationally.

The Editorial Board of the Journal is headed by Professor Zafar-Ullah Chaudhry, President of the CPSP, and consists of national and international members of high profile medical personalities of Pakistan, UK, USA, Nepal and Sudan.

Being a high profile accredited biomedical journal of the country, JCPSP is recognized by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC), Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, which has rated it in the highest “W” category list of journals from Pakistan. JCPSP is also an Impact Factor journal by Thomson Reuters for the third year running i-e 2009, 2010 and 2011 with a 5-year Impact Factor. The journal is also abstracted/indexed by Index Medicus/MEDLINE/[PubMed](NLM-USA), Embase/Excerpta Medica of Netherlands, ExtraMed of London, EBSCO Publishing (USA), Index Copernicus (Poland), Gale/Cengage Learning (USA), CAB International, UK, Index Medicus for Eastern Mediterranean Region (IMEMR), PakMediNet and MEDLIP (Pakistan) and registered with International Serial Data System and Coden of American Chemical Society.

JCPSP has a large readership that includes CPSP Fellows, Members, other healthcare professionals and researchers worldwide and distributed to medical libraries throughout Pakistan and abroad by arrangement with EBSCO publishing, USA and GALE/Cengage Learning, USA.
